The Caminito del Rey is located in the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes Natural Area, in the center of the province of Malaga, surrounded by the municipalities of Álora, Antequera and Ardales. The Desfiladero de los Gaitanes is a canyon that has been forming the Guadalhorce River in which there are points that are 10 meters wide and 700 meters deep.
